Volume 2 – Chapter Fourteen – Week 14

Sublime Shapes, Spaces, and Scales

Workday: 06/02/2025

My day began with assisting a sculptural artist leading a children’s workshop at the Château. Her practice was deeply inspiring, focusing on the organic forms found in nature and transforming them into both 2D and 3D abstract compositions. Watching her guide the children through this creative process reminded me of the power of art to shape perception and encourage appreciation for the details in the world around us. One of the most enriching aspects of working at the Château is engaging with such a wide range of artists. Some whose work resonates with me deeply and others whose approaches challenge my perspective. However, being behind the scenes and witnessing their creative journeys fosters a deep respect for their expression and the dedication they bring to teaching and inspiring the next generation.

After the workshop, I shifted my focus to my own design responsibilities, particularly those entrusted to me by Natasha, the President of the Château. Having gained her trust in my design capabilities, she entrusted me with selecting chairs that would enhance the space’s comfort and style. This required careful consideration not just in terms of aesthetics but also practicality, durability, and how well they would serve both residents and guests.

Later in the day, I worked closely with Natasha again, this time discussing the adaptation of a beautiful sofa for the villa. She wanted to enhance its comfort and elevate its luxurious feel and I suggested incorporating matching pillows to create a comfortable and inviting look. What started as a simple design suggestion evolved into a meaningful discussion on space and use. I feel incredibly grateful for these moments, where my ideas are valued, and I have the opportunity to contribute to the Château’s aesthetic in a way that merges history with contemporary comfort.
