Chapter three: Week 3

An Extra day with the Artists

Workday 12/10/2024

A last minute trip along the French Riviera was initiated on Friday evening by the artists and I had the honour to be invited by them!

It was a busy day trim between Monaco, Nice and Cannes which was very eventful. We first went to the art museum of Miquel Barceló Océanographe.

Since his first solo exhibition in Mallorca in 1974 he has never been tired of travelling and developing his artistic practices. However in his world the sea has always been his favourite element and has remained a constant aspect in his life from his childhood to his most recent creations. This dedication to a topic really inspired me to continue my exploration of the Château history.

the exhibition invites viewers to revisit Miquel Barceló’s diverse and rich production, on a journey from the origins of life to the emergence of basic human activities.”

Continuing through the streets of Nice we visited a pop up art gallery which was run by local art universities and gave them the opportunity to showcase their work and have a spotlight. This reminded me of the Château’s commitment to inspiring artists by connecting them to their environment. Moments like these make me appreciate the work the team does to provide artists with spaces that let their ideas and inspirations unfold naturally.”
