Chapter Twenty-two: Week 22

Building Trust, Spaces, and Stories

Workday 01/04/2025

Today was rich with inspiring conversations and meaningful design work that reminded me why I love being part of this place. The morning began with one of my favourite meetings the optional initial aspiration talk with the new residents. I always make the effort to attend these because hearing each artist share their past work and upcoming ideas allows me to understand their creative intentions from the very beginning. These conversations help me anticipate how I can support them in the future, whether it’s through exhibition planning or idea development. Being present and engaged in these early stages not only helps build trust with the artists, but it also shows the French team my proactive mindset and dedication to being a connector between both worlds.

Later in the day, we received a long-awaited delivery of volcanic rocks for the ongoing renovations in the Lover’s Garden. Until recently, I didn’t fully grasp the significance of these materials but now, I deeply appreciate their functional and aesthetic value. Volcanic rocks play a major role in filtration and protecting the soil from erosion, something I’m learning firsthand thanks to the trust Natasha and Pip have placed in me. Seeing the rocks finally arrive, in a perfect shade that blends naturally with the soil and complements the palette of flowers we’ll soon plant, was a quietly powerful moment. It’s fulfilling to witness how even small material decisions can elevate the atmosphere of a space.

To close the day, I shifted into a more digital mindset, curating and posting content for the Château’s private functions Instagram account. With wedding season and corporate events just beginning, it’s crucial that our online presence reflects the originality and elegance of the Château experience. I take a lot of care in designing content that is both beautiful and easily digestible, knowing that our aesthetic is what often draws new clients in. These moments when design, communication, and storytelling all meet are incredibly rewarding. They remind me that my role here isn’t just about visuals; it’s about creating a world that others want to step into.
