From Mulch and Material Samples to Canneseries Sparkle
Workday 29/04/2025
Tuesday began with a familiar rhythm a final garden trip to the plant shop. There was a sense of contentment in knowing this would likely be our last visit, as we carefully collected the 23 bags of mulch calculated to complete the garden. True to tradition, we were welcomed by the charming resident cat, who seemed to guide us through the plants in a symbolic and grounding moment. During these outings, I’ve cherished the opportunity to practise my French with Ludo the gardener and deepen my relationships with the garden team, who have grown from colleagues into genuine friends.

These connections have made every task more meaningful and enjoyable.

Back at the Château, I was able to see the direct results of our hard work. Spreading the wood chips across the garden brought a satisfying sense of completion. The deep brown and red tones looked stunning against the new plantings, tying everything together beautifully. The joy of seeing an idea come to life was mirrored by the success of another creative project my chalkboard poster for the tea room. I was delighted to hear that it had caught the attention of many visitors, who felt it perfectly captured the charm and warmth of the tea room on the romantic terrace. It was encouraging to see how my storytelling approach resonated with people in such an immediate and visual way.

Another major highlight was the long-awaited arrival of the material samples for the Château’s new chairs, a moment I had been anticipating for weeks. Opening the package was like unwrapping a box of creative possibilities. The textures, colours and finishes, ranging from metals to vinyls to faux leather, offered so much potential for design expression. This felt like a defining milestone in my interior design involvement at the Château. I’m especially proud that my consistent communication and follow-up efforts with the suppliers led to this moment.
I look forward to sitting down with Natasha to make the final selections, carefully balancing the Château’s historic character with a fresh, modern edge.

To end the day, I had the honour of attending the closing ceremony of Canneseries. Surrounded by inspiring people many of whom I’d had the chance to meet and connect with earlier in the week I felt energised by the creative atmosphere.
It was surreal to be part of such a prestigious event, so close to where I work and live. It reminded me just how vital communication, adaptability and genuine connection are not just for design, but for life. This week has shown me the true value of staying present, staying open and allowing storytelling to flow through every layer of what I do.
