Chapter Twenty-one: Week 21

Welcoming New Perspectives

Workday 27/03/2025

Thursday was filled with excitement as I eagerly awaited the arrival of the new Canadian residency artists. Dressed in my red and white chequered dress, I felt a sense of anticipation building as each artist arrived. I couldn’t help but be giddy, painting with lively music while keeping an eye out for their arrival. Connecting with artists from all over the world is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work, and today was no different. It’s fulfilling to learn about their backgrounds, their journeys, and what inspires them. These interactions are vital to my personal and professional growth, reminding me of how much I enjoy building relationships with new people and learning from their experiences.

Later, I had the joy of joining the artists for dinner, which Nelcy kindly invited me to. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear about their creative practices and understand what inspired them about the Château.

It’s always refreshing to hear fresh perspectives, especially when seeing the Château through someone else’s eyes for the first time. We had insightful conversations about the history of the Château and the Clews, and I found myself learning just as much from them as they did from me. These kinds of intellectual exchanges are some of the most fulfilling aspects of my experience here—they deepen my knowledge and foster a sense of shared learning.
