Chapter Twenty-one: Week 21

From Parting Hugs to Architectural Plans

Workday 24/03/2025

Saying goodbye to my third artist residency is a moment filled with both joy and sadness. The bonds formed over shared creativity, late-night conversations, and collaborative experiences make each farewell deeply felt. Though I remind myself that parting is just a “see you later,” it never gets easier. My emotional connection to the artists is both a strength and a challenge. I cherish the relationships I build, yet the goodbyes linger in my heart.

Seeing the impact my team and I have had on the artists’ experience at the Château reinforces the value of what we do. These moments remind me that while projects may end, the relationships and inspirations we cultivate are lasting.

As I transitioned from emotional goodbyes to my design responsibilities, I was tasked with measuring the Château’s entire roof area a challenge assigned by the president. Though not originally in my job description, I saw it as a reflection of the trust I have built. Being given greater responsibilities has allowed me to step into leadership roles, make decisions, and strengthen my problem-solving skills. This trust pushes me to go beyond expectations, proving that hard work and dedication open doors to new opportunities.

Using the technical skills I developed at university, I approached the task with precision, ensuring every measurement was accurately reflected in my sketches. It was a chance to refine my craft and contribute in a tangible way. When Natasha, the president, expressed her satisfaction with my work, it reinforced my confidence in my abilities.
