Design and DPS Weekend
Weekend: 23/05/2025 – 24/05/2025

Although the weekend weather was stunning practically calling my name to step outside I knew I had to stay focused and dedicate time to completing two final responsibilities: my DPS essay and the remaining chalkboard commissions. Writing the DPS essay was more than just a task; it was a moment of reflection, a chance to reconnect with my past self through photos, blog entries, and vivid memories from the year.
What struck me most was how much value there was in the way I had documented my journey, each entry, image, and sketch became a thread that helped me weave together an essay that felt both digestible and immersive. The process reminded me that communication, when done consistently and with intention, becomes one of the most powerful tools in design.
Alongside the writing, I carefully balanced my time to continue the chalkboard illustrations for Sylvie’s kiosk. It required agility and time management, but to my surprise, the act of drawing didn’t feel like work it felt grounding, even therapeutic. As I filled each board with vibrant colours and floral details, I found myself reconnecting with the part of me that first fell in love with art and design. The chalkboard pens flowed easily, and so did my thoughts. It was a beautiful contrast to the more analytical process of essay writing, yet both required a deep sense of reflection and creative presence.

By the end of the day, as I was putting the finishing touches on the final boards, Sylvie arrived to collect the remaining pieces. Seeing her light up with happiness, recognising the flowers I had illustrated from the island, was the most rewarding moment of all. It reminded me that the true essence of what we do whether through essays, drawings, or thoughtful gestures lies in the connections we create. These moments of genuine appreciation and shared joy are what make the Château experience so meaningful, and I’m grateful to have played a small part in them.
