Cannes Meets Chalk, A Designer’s Double Life
Workday: 19/05/2025

This Monday launched me into a whirlwind of professional engagement, starting with a pivotal meeting for the Cassina residency at the Château’s Spencer Gallery. My role required both precision and adaptability as I helped transform the space for a high-level gathering with influential figures from the local film industry along the Côte d’Azur.

From coordinating the cocktail setup and arranging seating to managing transitions between the French office, the Cassina team, and my colleagues, I found myself constantly on the move. It was a true test of my communication skills and ability to act as a cultural and logistical bridge. Simultaneously, I documented the day through dynamic Instagram stories, balancing digital storytelling with real-time coordination to ensure the event’s visual identity matched its significance.

Later in the afternoon, I embarked on a more personal but equally meaningful design opportunity on the island of Saint Margaret. I was invited by Sylvie, a former manager of the Château’s Tea Room, who had seen my past chalkboard work and commissioned me to redesign seven boards for her kiosk. This was a project born from mutual respect and artistic trust. Before diving into the drawings, I spent time immersing myself in the island’s atmosphere, observing the natural textures, colours and character of the space. It was essential for me to understand the soul of the setting so I could infuse the boards with stories that resonate with visitors.

What began as a busy, high-pressure day evolved into a deeply rewarding reminder of why I pursue design. From orchestrating an elegant gallery encounter to sketching ideas in the sea breeze, both experiences reinforced the value of storytelling, environmental awareness, and human connection in my work.

I’m incredibly energised to begin the chalkboard series and to keep developing my role as a creative communicator within and beyond the Château. This week showed me that versatility and confidence, paired with a touch of spontaneity, can open doors to unexpected and fulfilling collaborations.
