Chapter Twenty-five: Week 25

Flower Emmersions and Care

Workday 25/04/2025

Friday rolled in with an unfamiliar but exciting energy the sounds of trucks unloading, furniture being carried in, and lively conversations echoing across the Château grounds. It was the start of the wedding season, and the transformation of the medieval castle into a dreamscape for future newlyweds was in full swing. I was especially moved when I saw how the Lover’s Garden, a space I have grown deeply attached to, was dressed for the occasion.

Seeing the fresh flowerbeds I had carefully nurtured now perfectly complementing the elegant white chairs and delicate bouquets made my heart swell with pride. In that moment, all the hard work, attention to detail, and determination felt beautifully validated by the way the space had come alive for such a meaningful celebration.

Inspired by the beauty of the setting, I returned to my ongoing mural project, painting flowers across the wall, allowing myself a moment to appreciate how the artwork, like the garden, had continued to grow and evolve. After a little time spent immersed in painting, I shifted my focus back to a more logistical challenge: sourcing the mulch and wood chips I had started researching the day before

It turned out to be more complicated than expected with out-of-stock materials, high delivery costs, and short product lifespans; it felt like every option came with a hurdle. Still, I refused to be discouraged. Using my problem-solving skills, I developed two to three alternative solutions, determined to find the right fit for the garden’s practical and aesthetic needs.

When I presented the options to Pip, she was genuinely proud and appreciative of my resilience, resourcefulness and proactive spirit. Her words of encouragement reminded me that even without a finalised order, the progress I had made in understanding the market, negotiating prices, and proposing alternatives was valuable in itself. Moments like these are essential; they teach that success isn’t always about an immediate outcome, but about persistence, creative thinking and learning along the way. It was a simple but powerful reminder that growth often happens behind the scenes, long before the final result is visible.
