Conferences and smiles

Today, I took the initiative to join Nelcy, the director of the Art Foundation, and Cyrielle at the annual Mandelieu Tourisme conference. The event offered a detailed overview of the year’s tourism trends, future strategies, and the region’s unique attractions. While the conference was entirely in French, I used a real-time translator to bridge the language gap, immersing myself in the discussions and contributing to conversations with my colleagues afterwards.
This experience was a reminder of the importance of understanding the past and future of the region’s tourism, as it directly influences the relevance and impact of my design work.

I ended my day with a lovely dinner meeting with Lucas, one of the Canadian residents, who was passing through France on a layover before heading back to Canada after his trip to Northern Europe.
Our conversation drifted from memories of his residency to our aspirations for the future which felt more like a reunion with a friend or family member than a meeting with a colleague.
Despite the distance that lies ahead, we both knew our connection would remain, built on shared experiences and mutual support wherever we end up in this world
