Weekend Travels and Primary Research – Eze and Villa et Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild
Work day 19/10/2024
I continued my adventures along the French Riviera through the weekend as well…

The medieval village of Eze was an intricate work of an art in itself. With its narrow streets and stone buildings, beautifully blends with the Mediterranean landscape. The Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, with its charming details. It underlined to me the impact of local materials and textures which is a prominent feature and focus in my regeneration projects.

After the beauty of Éze, my visit to the Villa and Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild was a dream come true. Long on my “To Visit” list, the villa’s rich and intriguing history truly fascinated me. I was especially captivated by the meticulous maintenance of its nine gardens, each with its own distinct character and visitor experience.

As I wandered through the nine gardens, I was filled with inspiration. I noted the diverse plant types that could enhance the Château, but more importantly, I was captivated by the sensory experiences crafted in each garden. Each space offered a unique interplay of scents, sights, and sounds, making every visit memorable. This realisation has motivated me to design environments that engage all the senses, creating a deeper connection between visitors and the natural world.
