Chapter Fifteen: Week 15

Shaping Spaces as a Team – 3D Mapping Heaters and Gardens

Workday: 12/02/2025

My Wednesday began with a task that, at first glance, seemed more technical than creative—mapping out and creating a 3D model for the precise placement of heaters in the Spencer Gallery. While this lacked the romanticism of sketching or painting, it was a necessary exercise in spatial clarity, ensuring functionality without compromising the room’s integrity especially when used for lavish weddings and exhibitions. Communicating a design concept visually, especially across continents, required precision and adaptability skills I continue to refine.

There was a quiet satisfaction in knowing that my visualization played a crucial role in shaping the gallery’s future. However, stepping away from technical interiors into the garden brought a refreshing contrast. Researching the plant selection for the Lover’s Garden required an entirely different mindset one of sensitivity, historical awareness, and aesthetic storytelling. Adhering to the legacy of Marie Clews while ensuring the space would flourish in the present was an intricate balancing act. Working alongside the Clews’ descendants deepened my appreciation for designing within a lineage, reminding me that every creative decision leaves an imprint beyond the immediate moment.
