Painting, Observing and Smelling Blooms
Workday: 11/02/2025
Spending the morning immersed in my own green and white paradise, I found myself reflecting on how color influences both mood and productivity. Taking on multiple design projects at the Château has given me a clearer sense of my own aesthetic preferences and how they shape my creative process. Like Marie Clews, I’ve discovered that green and white instill a sense of calm and clarity, not just for me but for those around me in the office

It’s fascinating to observe how people respond to the space relaxed yet engaged, drawn into the serenity of the blooming wall I am creating. This realisation has deepened my understanding of the psychological impact of design, particularly how nature-inspired elements can subtly shift emotions and behaviors.
In between painting sessions, I visit an artist who shares my appreciation for Marie’s garden. Her use of the same palette resonates with me, creating an unspoken connection between our artistic perspectives. These pauses remind me that art is not just about technique but about the deeper meanings embedded in color, form, and space.

The afternoon was a striking contrast where my morning had been defined by soft greens and whites, Maison Lancôme enveloped me in an entirely different world of rich pinks and magentas. The sheer intensity of colour on the walls, the interior and even the doors created an atmosphere bursting with energy and movement. Though perfumery has never been a particular interest of mine, I couldn’t help but be drawn into the meticulous science of scent extraction and the craftsmanship behind high-end fragrance development.

More than anything, the visit left me inspired to think beyond my own medium and way of working . It reinforced the idea that great design is not just about what we see but how we feel and the senses that are stimulated and sometimes, stepping into an unfamiliar creative world is exactly what’s needed to bring a fresh perspective to my own.
