Chapter Sixteen: Week 16

An Honourable and Timeless Photoshoot

Workday: 17/02/2025

This week began with an unexpected and transformative experience, that bridged history, art, and personal expression in a way I had never encountered before. A professional artist and photographer at the Château invited me to be the historical model for his future portrait series, an honour that carried excitement and a deep sense of responsibility.

To embrace this role, I wore Marie Clews’ dress once more, a garment rich with the weight of history. As the fabric draped around me, I felt an unspoken dialogue between past and present, between the woman who once inhabited these halls and the artist now capturing my presence within them. It wasn’t just about wearing a dress, it was about embodying a legacy, paying tribute to a figure whose influence shaped the Château itself.

Through this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of preservation, not just of physical spaces, but of the narratives they hold.

As a designer, I often think about aesthetics and functionality, but this moment reminded me of the emotional weight that spaces and objects carry. I imagined myself moving through the past, seeing the Château as it once was and understanding its evolution through time. The act of modeling became more than just posingit became a bridge between history and creativity. Sharing this moment with other resident artists, capturing it through photography and conversation, reinforced the idea that art is a living, breathing entity, shaped by those who choose to engage with it.
