Beyond the Château: Discovering Creativity at the LUMA Foundation
Workday 13/03/2025
Following the previous day’s explorations, today’s field trip took on an even grander scale as the entire international artist residency ventured to Arles, a town two and a half hours away. Our destination was the renowned Luma Foundation, an architectural and landscaping masterpiece that seamlessly blends art, history, modern design, and community engagement. From the moment I arrived, I was completely immersed in its brilliance. The space ignited my curiosity—not just about its aesthetic appeal, but about the deep history of its construction, the creative influences behind it, and the immense collaboration required to bring such a vision to life.

Experiencing this remarkable site alongside the artists and the French team made the visit even more meaningful. We explored, discussed, and absorbed the space together, exchanging perspectives and interpretations that enriched my understanding of the art and architecture around us. The fusion of different disciplines—architecture, landscape, and contemporary art—demonstrated how spaces can be designed not just to be seen, but to be felt and experienced on multiple levels. This interdisciplinary dialogue reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and how diverse insights contribute to truly impactful design.

I cherish these opportunities to step outside my usual workspace, to explore, observe, and absorb inspiration in unexpected ways. Seeing world-class design firsthand, engaging with artists, and immersing myself in new environments fuels my creative process in ways that studio work alone cannot. Today, I reaffirmed my belief that the best ideas are often born from experiences that challenge, excite, and invite us to see the world through a different lens.
