The Art of Preparation
Workday 10/03/2025

This week was set to be incredibly busy, balancing multiple design projects alongside organising my self-initiated workshop. To ensure I was fully energized and motivated, I made the most of a wonderful weekend spent with friends and the Artist. With a fresh mindset, I began by cutting bottles, PET plastics, and newspapers to create a trial version of a recycled and reused flower pot for the upcoming herb-growing workshop. The process was meticulous and required a lot of organisation, but I knew that my dedication would result in a smoother and more engaging session on Friday.

To take a break from the hands-on crafting, I switched to another design project an exterior renovation in the Lovers’ Garden. My task was to document and compile a slide sheet of all the plants needed for the redesign. This involved translating plant names into both English and French, calculating their coverage area, and estimating the required quantity. The challenge of combining digital SketchUp modeling, surface area calculations, and creative problem-solving pushed me beyond my comfort zone. However, by applying my adaptability and previous design knowledge, I navigated the task efficiently and achieved the results I was aiming for.
To conclude the day, I conducted a full test run of my workshop to gauge its timing and flow. This trial allowed me to identify areas for improvement, refine my approach, and enhance the overall experience. Seeing how engaging the process was reassured me that the children would enjoy it just as much. By staying proactive and detail-oriented, I felt confident that both my design projects and the workshop would come together successfully.
