Plans and Photoshoots
Workday 22/11/202

Needing a slower-paced day after the demands of yesterday, I focused on tracing Marie Clews’ 1952 AutoCAD garden plans. Digitalizing these designs is a detailed and time-intensive process, but it will serve as a critical resource for future projects and for colleagues in the U.S. who depend on accurate data. This task not only feels like a step forward for the Château but also allowed me to revisit and strengthen my AutoCAD skills, which will be incredibly useful as I prepare to return to university next year. While time-intensive, I know the final product will be a valuable tool for both practical and historical purposes.
To differentiate my day from the computer led program, I had the chance to participate in Lucas’ mummer project, inspired by a fascinating Christmas tradition from Canada. Mummering involves disguising oneself and visiting homes where family members must guess who is behind the costumes, followed by celebrations with food, drinks, and gifts. We added a unique twist by incorporating the historic costumes of Henry and Marie Clews, blending them with everyday household items like pillowcases, lipsticks, and hats. The result was a dynamic, theatrical fusion that captured the dramatic spirit of both traditions.
