Chapter Nine: Week 9

Workshops and Annual Board Meeting

Workday 21/11/2024

Every day at the Château is busy, but today was particularly nerve-wracking as I helped facilitate two children’s workshops, each with 27 participants, while also documenting their progress for Instagram. The workshops, ranging from stained glass window making to photography storyboards, were vastly different, requiring me to adapt quickly and stay calm under pressure as I ran between rooms.

Working with so many children at once was a new challenge, pushing me to communicate effectively, understand their needs and manage time constraints. I also supported the artist Dan, who was equally new to working with children, and we collaborated to ensure the workshops ran smoothly. Despite the chaos, it was incredibly rewarding to see the children leave with smiles, and I was even gifted a hand-drawn piece from one of them. This experience opened my eyes to the joy and potential of working with children in the future.

The Meeting…

After completing the Instagram posts for the children’s workshops, I faced the most nerve-racking part of the day: the annual board meeting for the Napoule Art Foundation. This biannual event included direct descendants of the Clews family, such as the president and vice president, alongside board members, investors, and Nelcy, the director of the French Office. My role was to present two key projects: a video showcasing the Mirabello open studio outcomes and the private functions Instagram page I’ve been developing over the past months.

This task was particularly challenging, as my presentation needed to be concise, engaging and carry and represent history in a modern way all tailored to an audience less familiar with Instagram. I adapted my language and visuals, explaining features like posts, highlights, and stories in an accessible way, while highlighting positive client feedback and future opportunities. Despite lasting only two minutes, the presentation made a strong impact, with the board expressing appreciation for my expertise. This encouragement inspired me to continue developing the page, and I felt deeply grateful to Nelcy for trusting me with this opportunity.
