Chapter Five: Week 5

Week 5 Reflections

This week proved to be quite intense, filled with a diverse range of design projects whether it was digital, physical, or assisting artists with specific tasks. I often found myself switching between tasks, tackling straightforward issues like repairs and more complex challenges, particularly in organising the layout for the open studio. There was a lot of social interaction, whether it was in my office or during the Open Studios with new artists and significant guests, where it was vital for me to navigate social and cultural cues. This is a skills I really mastered and worked on this week.

Overall, it has been an eventful week that highlighted the importance of consistent communication with artists and colleagues, as well as organisation and motivation. As I mark the end of this first artist residency, I feel I’ve gained valuable insights into handling diverse situations and adapting to different personalities, which will provide a solid foundation for the next residency beginning in early November
