The Open Studio and the Clews
Work day 25/10/2024
History really repeats itself.
Henry Clews, the grandson of the original Henry and Marie Clews, arrived with his wife Mary Clews from America to witness and support the open studio of the Mirabella family artists. To have a direct descendant from such a influential family that made this all happen really put into perspective the pride and the respect the whole family has for the history and the artistry of the Château.

while the descendants settled in, the whole office was busy printing last minute touches to the artists works. I was in charge of printing open studio brochures, making sure that all the artists are set up and comfortable and generally keeping everyone relaxed and satisfied for the evening to come.
The Evening of…
Chatter, excitement and buzz filled the atmosphere of the evening of the open studio. It started off with a speech by Henry Clews and the director of the Château Nelcy who really gave justice to the hard work of the artist as well as the foundation and office for consistently supporting and watching each artist grow.
As the evening continued, we flowed through the various works of each artist, listening to their insights and inspirations from their time here. It was a truly immersive experience; even though I had been present for their development, each talk brought new surprises. I felt a sense of pride and responsibility in knowing that we had supported their journey to flourish and succeed.

The evening concluded with a sense of great satisfaction from both the visitors and the artists. It was a bittersweet moment, marking the end of the residency while also opening doors to future opportunities.
