Exploring Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence with Smiles, Art, and Reminiscing
Work day: 06/03/2025
Today was another artist field trip day—one of my favorite parts of the residency experience. These outings allow me to connect with the artists in a more personal setting, strengthening our relationships outside the Château. This sense of closeness makes communication smoother when preparing for exhibitions and fosters a welcoming, safe environment for them to thrive. Building this trust is essential, as it not only enhances collaboration but also ensures that the artists feel truly supported during their time here.

This time, we visited Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, marking my third trip to the renowned art foundation with different groups of artists. Even though I’ve been before, each visit brings new discoveries, allowing me to focus on artworks I may have missed previously and gain fresh insights. What made this trip especially valuable were the conversations I shared with both the artists and Nelcy, my director. We spoke about art, life, and personal experiences, creating an enriching exchange that deepened my appreciation for both creative expression and human connection.

Throughout the day, I took on the role of documenting our experience for social media, crafting reflective and playful stories that captured the spirit of the artists and the unique way the Château fosters a sense of family. It was important to me to visually communicate not just the art we encountered but the emotions and bonds formed through these moments. We ended the trip with a lively group picture one that I will treasure as a reminder of these shared experiences and the community we continue to build.
Additional Excitement!!!
To end the day, I embarked on a new and exciting challenge—starting my first French lesson online with International House London. This moment had been weeks in the making, involving a preparatory process of taking a language test and determining my level. Finally, today marked the beginning of this journey, and I couldn’t be happier. While the lesson was challenging, I see it as an opportunity to grow, just like any design process requiring patience, practice, and persistence. I’m excited to continue improving, knowing that mastering the language will enhance both my personal and professional experiences in France.
