A Golden Bloom Workshop

work day 27/09/24

Today was quite a busy day since I had to help out with an invited artist workshop with the public and document visual materials for her and the Château Instagram. Here I had the opportunity to develop my photography skills since I had to capture the activity, the people that attended and the general mood. I also helped with the taking down and removal of the existing exhibition resonance. Which made me realise how much work and thought goes not only in the making of the artwork but also in the presentation of it. We also as a team, started discussing the possibility of making a private functions Instagram profile for the Château. Which would run along the existing profile as linked. This would allow external people to have more knowledge of the events they can host there and the endless possibilities of the space. I was very excited for this task since I run my own professional Instagram channel, so I would be able to apply my existing skill set to make it aesthetic and personalise to the aims and objectives of the Château.

A Continuation

work day 26/09/24

Today was incredibly insightful, as I deepened my research into wedding websites, particularly focusing on competitors, to understand the market standards. This helped me refine my approach to the marketing strategy. I also pushed myself to further develop my creative writing skills, focusing on the diverse interests of potential customers for weddings, private functions, and corporate events at the Château. The skills I applied today will be valuable in shaping future marketing efforts, ensuring they resonate with a broader audience.

Space calculation and presentations

Today was a very important day since we made a presentation infront of 40 teachers and directors of schools in the area about all the possible workshops in the Chateau. The idea of these workshops was to engage children to learn about the history of the Chateau and the area through art activities. This alligns perfectly with my belief that having a knowledge about your origin fosters a sense of belonging and makes society better. Developing creativity and a sense of design expands the childrens perception and intake of life. I had to be social and adaptable as well as practice my French to show how the workshops would benefit the children. It was very successful fingers crossed. After that, I helped out one of my colleagues in the promotions and marketing sector to deal with some emails and business requests for the Chateau. I dealt with two emails one from a famous venue provider company who was interested in having the Château as a possible location to have corporate events where celebrities can host. This involved me answering questions such as space is available, the capacity of different rooms and many other things which exercised my existing skills of proportions and calculations. I also practice my creative persuasive writing as I had to write descriptions to really engulf the readers in the atmosphere of the château. It was a challenge as I had to write all the information in French and English so all possible customers could read it. I overcame this by asking my colleagues as well as using deep L which is an accurate translating device. The other email was from a famous American wedding company who had a marketing request. They wanted the Château to be a wedding venue they offer on a section on their website. This required me to look through all the wedding photos from the previous years and choose the most appealing shot to show the space and how it can be used.

Settling in

work day 24/09/24

The day started off with exciting news that I had to prepare materials and presentations for teachers and directors that were coming the following day. I had to help and present the different workshops that children would be doing at the Château during the October holidays. This involved collecting pens, pencils, markers, and scissors as well as printing physical materials like parts of the Château, which would be cut out and use for the collaging workshop this activity encouraged me to put myself in the shoes of the children by picking vibrant and interesting shapes which would spark their interest and feel the story like atmosphere of the Château. I was also asked to make an excel sheet of all the orders of shampoo products that the artist used throughout the years which was out of my skill set. This didn’t stop me though since I taught myself how to present coherent quantities on an excel table which my colleagues were very pleased that I could help them with.

Once Upon a Time …

work day 23/09/24

 

The first day of work was slightly nerve-racking. A completely new country, a completely new language and a time where I’ll be applying my theory into practice. My team at the office was very welcoming and I was assigned tasks to ease me into how the Château works in operates. I was able to read all the applications of the Mirabello family Artist residency and write down notes on what they’re interested in how I could bond with them when they arrive the beginning of October. I was able to apply my research skills to form detailed files on each Artist simultaneously to that I also use my graphic design skills to make room and studio posters for the artists and where they would be staying around the Château. For me this was a very relevant experience since it allowed me to discover and navigate myself around each space of the Château. My French level is quite basic so understanding conversations between the cohort was a little challenging but I always had a transcribe translator to add me in conversation and I actively tried speaking French.
