Introduction:
Welcome to my visual journal from Château de la Napoule. Over the coming months, this enchanting space will be both my home and my creative canvas, where I’ll explore spatial design, visual storytelling, and the art of communication. Here, I’ll document the people, conversations, and experiences that shape this place, drawing inspiration from the rich visuals and vibrant spirit of the French Riviera

History of Château
After its original discovery by the Romans over 2,000 years ago, this site hosted the construction of a fortress by the Villeneuve family during the medieval period. After that, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history – most notably as a glass factory and as a large coastal mansion.
Henry and Marie Clews, an eccentric American couple, fell in love with the Château in 1918 and, for the 20 years following, invested their shared creativity into fully restoring it. With Marie as architect and landscape designer and Henry as sculptor, they transformed the fortress ruins into a neo-medieval seaside artistic retreat surrounded by magnificent gardens.
The couple organized extravagant parties at the Château for the European aristocracy and American expats, while also remaining active in the local community. Following Henry’s death in 1937, Marie Founded La Napoule Art Foundation in 1951 to honour his memory. Today, the foundation continues to keep its creative dream alive by welcoming artists and art lovers alike to La Napoule.
